Operating tours and cruises to the Great Barrier Reef for over 30 years, Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises is owned by experienced cruise operators, the Wallace family. Since 1979 when they launched the renowned Quicksilver cruises from Port Douglas the Wallace’s have been perfecting the art of day touring on the Great Barrier Reef. In 1990 the Wallace family purchased Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises and for 20 years have applied their winning formula of friendly and helpful service. In 2004 and 2006, 2007 the company was recognised in the Tropical North Queensland Tourism Awards as best Major Tour and Transport Operator and in 2008 were inducted into the Hall of Fame for this category.

Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises is highly environmentally-conscious and was recently recertified at “Advanced Ecotourism” level. Big Cat completed a comprehensive greenhouse gas emissions audit as part of the Australian Government’s Green house Challenge Plus programme and the Tourism North Queensland Planet Safe partnership programme and is now certified at the “Leader” level under the Climate Action Australia Certification programme recognising the Company’s “Zero Carbon Footprint”.

Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises specialises in discovering the Great Barrier Reef. Visitors are encouraged to view the wonderful underwater world of marine life and corals by participating in snorkelling, glass bottom boat or semi-submarine tours.  Big Cat also provides many optional tours on board the vessels offering passengers certified and introductory diving, Seawalker helmet diving and boat snorkel trips to the outer edge of Green Island Reef.

Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises operates year round from Reef Fleet Terminal in Cairns offering full day and half day Green Island Reef Cruises.

In November 2004 the company launched Crocodile Explorer, a half day tour where visitors can enjoy a calm water cruise on Trinity Inlet, a visit to the Cairns Crocodile Farm and a relaxing commentary coach tour back to Cairns. Tours depart 9.30am & 1.30pm daily. Sunset cruises are also offered 5 nights a week, departing at 5.30pm.
